Nest Labs, co-founded by former Apple engineers Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers in 2010 and acquired by Google Nest for US$3.2 billion in January 2014. Nest’s third generation smart thermostat has finally arrived and the company manages to improve upon it’s programmable thermostat with a new display and features. Combined with it’s easy to use mobile apps for Android and iOS. Our lead product reviewer, Cody Lopez provides an unboxing and installation of the latest thermostat. Stay tuned to find out if it is worth it.

The Nest Learning Thermostat can learn the heating and cooling habits of your home thus programming itself to turn on when needed. This has the potential to save it’s user money on their energy bill. In addition to saving the user money year over year on their energy bill, it has been reported by CNET that internet connected devices installed in the home such as the Nest Learning Thermostat “could make a huge difference in how much and how quickly a buyer might spend on a home purchase.”  We like the idea of being able to save money while living with the smart thermostat then being able to make money when and if the time comes to sell the home.
